Roddy Ricch

Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr., known professionally as Roddy Ricch, is an American rapper. Born and raised in Compton, California, Moore rose to fame in 2018 following the release of his song "Die Young" — which marked his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 as a tribute to deceased rappers XXXTentacion, Lil Snupe, and Speaker Knockerz.

Roddy Ricch emerged from Compton in 2018 not as a traditionalist but as a melodic shapeshifter, blending trap production with singing that felt closer to R&B than rap—a move that defined the late-2010s sound. His breakthrough "Die Young," produced by DJ Mustard, paid homage to fallen peers XXXTentacion and Speaker Knockerz, establishing him as someone who understood hip-hop's generational weight. The 2019 debut *Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial* solidified his crossover appeal, but it was "ROCKSTAR" with DaBaby in 2020 that became inescapable, ruling radio during lockdown and proving Ricch's gift for infectious hooks.
