I didn't like hip-hop that much when I was younger. Mostly cause I didn't understand the lyrics, the rappers were spitting too fast, and there was too much popculture references for me to fully understand and appreciate what they were saying.
Plus I grew up a straight up alt-rock fan, think Nirvana, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Radiohead...so having a hiphop artist spit over someone else's sample or melody seemed sacriligious to me. I mean, why couldn't they pick up the instruments, and just create something?
That was a long time ago.
The album that changed my way of thinking about hiphop is Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I've heard the songs before, as soon as they got out, but it was 2022 when i really dug into the album as a whole, and really started appreciating the craft.
I can't recall what my Spotify wrapped said at the end of 2025.
Anyway, the idea to build this site came a few months ago, when I was checking the YT video about King Von. It was fascinating to me - the beefs, the drama, the hustle, the street life in Chicago Drill scene... Then I got into podcasts, interviews etc. and saw some names being thrown more and more. The names I knew better, cause those rappers were more known (at least here in Croatia) then the "we're not from 63rd" bars.
And I figured how all is connected - hiphop world is one giant social network, with people collabing, featuring on each others mixtapes, and of course - BEEFING.
I guess it has to be like that.
So, I made this graph, this overview of the whole hiphop world. It is still small, but I believe it could be some kind of HIPHOP enciclopedia if you want, an unresolved puzzle of all people who matter (and don't) in this crazy world.
