Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, known professionally as DaBaby, is an American rapper. After releasing several mixtapes between 2014 and 2018, he signed with Interscope Records in January 2019.
From Charlotte's streets to a platinum-selling phenomenon, DaBaby weaponized chaotic energy and rapid-fire delivery to dominate 2019-2020 before self-inflicted controversy derailed his ascent. His breakthrough came swift—*Baby on Baby* and *KIRK* both dropped in 2019, establishing him as rap's most kinetic new force, but it was "ROCKSTAR" with Roddy Ricch that crowned him, a #1 smash that soundtracked lockdown America. Collaborations with Lil Baby and Future cemented his place in Southern trap's new generation, yet a disastrous Rolling Loud set and poor crisis management in 2021 proved that commercial dominance doesn't guarantee cultural longevity.
