Conway the Machine

Demond Price, known professionally as Conway the Machine, or simply Conway, is an American rapper and co-founder of the hip hop label Griselda Records, alongside his paternal half-brother Westside Gunn, and Mach-Hommy. Acclaimed for his 1990s inspired, dark and gritty lyricism, he rose to prominence following his mixtape Reject 2 (2015) and debut studio album From King to a God (2020).

Buffalo's gritty streets shaped Conway the Machine long before Griselda Records became hip-hop's most vital independent label, and his survival of a 2012 shooting wound up informing the dark, sample-heavy production he'd pursue with The Alchemist on *La Maquina*. Alongside his brother Westside Gunn and the mysterious Mach-Hommy, Conway built something rare in modern rap—a collective that feels genuinely underground while commanding critical respect, his 1990s-influenced lyricism cutting through the noise on *From King to a God* like vintage New York griminess refusing to die. His connection to Westside isn't just familial; it's foundational, two brothers weaponizing their hometown's pain into an aesthetic that influenced a generation of younger producers and rappers chasing that Griselda sound.
