SaveMoney

Savemoney is a hip hop collective originating in Chicago, Illinois, based in the United States of America. It was founded by Chicago rapper Vic Mensa in 2008, and includes Mensa alongside Chance the Rapper and Nico Segal, formerly known as Donnie Trumpet.

Before Chance the Rapper became a Grammy-winning independent force, he was grinding as part of SaveMoney, the Chicago collective that also launched Vic Mensa into the mainstream. Founded in 2008 and solidifying its roster through the early 2010s with Nico Segal (Donnie Trumpet) and Towkio, SaveMoney functioned as creative laboratory where these Chicago kids refined the melodic, jazz-inflected sound that would define a generation of Midwest rap. The crew's most tangible legacy arrived through *Acid Rap* and the *Coloring Book* era, when Chance's viral ascent overshadowed his collaborators but proved SaveMoney's collective vision had teeth.
