Jamel Irief, better known by his stage name Masta Killa, is an American rapper and member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He was only featured on one track on their 1993 debut album Enter the Wu-Tang , but has been prolific on Clan group albums and solo projects since the mid-1990s.
Though Masta Killa entered Wu-Tang Clan's canonical debut with just a single appearance, he transformed that minimal introduction into a decades-long presence that proved longevity beats initial prominence. His poetic, introspective delivery found its fullest expression on *No Said Date* (2004), where he stepped beyond the Clan's shadow to craft a solo statement that valued lyricism over flash. As a founding member who came of age in mid-90s Brooklyn, Masta Killa's prolific run through Wu-Tang's group projects and solo catalog—from *Made in Brooklyn* through *Mansa Musa*—established him as the Clan's quiet anchor, the MC who understood that depth of character could outlast controversy or chart dominance.
