Carl Terrell Mitchell, better known by his stage name Twista, is an American rapper. He is best known for his chopper style of rapping and for once holding the title of fastest English-speaking rapper in the world according to Guinness World Records in 1992, being able to pronounce 598 syllables in 55 seconds.

Twista's chopper-style delivery emerged from Chicago's South Side in the early '90s, establishing a technical blueprint that made him virtually untouchable on the mic—he once held the Guinness World Record for fastest rapper at 598 syllables in 55 seconds. While his earlier albums like *Adrenaline Rush* and *Mobstability* built his reputation as a relentless lyricist, it wasn't until 2004's *Kamikaze* that Twista achieved mainstream dominance, particularly through "Slow Jamz" with Kanye West, a collaboration that netted both artists their first #1 hit and introduced his signature flow to a generation beyond Chicago. Alongside Common, he represents the city's rap aristocracy—two homegrown legends who proved Chicago could compete with coasts while maintaining neighborhood credibility.
