Swizz Beatz

Kasseem Daoud Dean, known professionally as Swizz Beatz, is an American record producer, rapper and DJ. Born and raised in the Bronx borough of New York City, Dean embarked on his musical career as a DJ in 1994.

From the Bronx DJ booth to the boardroom, Swizz Beatz transformed production into empire-building—a trajectory that starts with his run as Ruff Ryders' architectural genius, blueprinting X's "X Gon' Give It to Ya" and the label's entire sonic DNA before pivoting to Jay-Z's slicker terrain on "On to the Next One." His ability to oscillate between trunk-rattling 2000s street knockers and contemporary pop-rap (producing for Beyoncé) revealed a producer uninterested in genre boundaries, only in motion and momentum.
