Scott Storch

Scott Spencer Storch is an American record producer and songwriter. Storch began his career as part of Philadelphia-based hip-hop band the Roots, which he joined as a keyboardist prior to the release of their 1993 debut album, Organix.

Before he became the architect of platinum pop-rap crossovers, Scott Storch cut his teeth as a keyboardist for the Roots, a credential that grounded his later production work in genuine musicianship rather than sample-chasing. His co-production credit on Dr. Dre's "Still D.R.E." launched him into the major leagues in 2000, but Storch truly dominated the mid-2000s through his collaborations with 50 Cent—both "In da Club" and the massive hit "Candy Shop" bear his fingerprints, the latter becoming inescapable on radio and representing the glossy, maximalist sound that defined that era. His talent for crafting synth-heavy, melodic production made him invaluable to artists chasing both street credibility and mainstream appeal, though his prolific output sometimes overshadowed his deeper contributions to hip-hop's sonic evolution.
