Ice-T

Tracy Lauren Marrow, known professionally as Ice-T, is an American rapper and actor. He is active in both hip-hop and heavy metal.

Ice-T's 1987 debut *Rhyme Pays* didn't just introduce West Coast gangsta rap—it weaponized it, turning street narratives into a cultural provocation that made majors nervous and fans hungry. His 1991 masterpiece *O.G. Original Gangster* codified the sound that Ice Cube would refine and Snoop Dogg would later glamorize, establishing LA's rap hierarchy before Dre's empire eclipsed everyone else. Beyond the mic, Ice-T's refusal to apologize—whether defending Body Count's "Cop Killer" or his scorched-earth beef with censorship—made him hip-hop's most uncompromising voice when compromise was easier. His influence runs deeper than chart positions suggest: he taught a generation that rappers could be complicated, could make metal records, could act in films, and could still represent without dilution.
