Ice Spice

Isis Naija Gaston, known professionally as Ice Spice, is an American rapper and songwriter. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York City, she began her musical career during college in 2020, after meeting record producer RiotUSA.

The Bronx drill wave's newest breakout arrived fully formed in 2022 when Ice Spice emerged from RiotUSA's production circle with "Munch," a track that immediately signaled a generational shift in the city's rap hierarchy. Her rise accelerated through strategic co-signs—Drake's early endorsement amplified her distinctly Bronx sound to mainstream ears, while Nicki Minaj's appearance on the "Princess Diana" remix felt like a passing of the torch from one Bronx queen to the next. Drawing inspiration from Pop Smoke's sonic blueprint while building her own lane, Ice Spice positioned herself as the spiritual successor to the drill scene's most vital tradition, proving that the Bronx's grip on hip-hop's present remained as tight as its historical influence.
