Clipse

Clipse, also known as the Clipse is an American hip-hop duo from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Formed in 1994, it consists of brothers Gene "Malice" and Terrence "Pusha T" Thornton.

Clipse transformed Virginia Beach's drug-rap vernacular into high-concept art through their partnership with Pharrell Williams and the Neptunes, who produced the landmark 2006 album *Hell Hath No Fury*—a album that made cocaine trafficking sound like philosophical inquiry. Brothers Pusha T and Malice built their reputation on meticulous wordplay and unflinching subject matter, but it was their collaboration with Pharrell that elevated their narratives from street reportage to something genuinely cinematic, the kind of production that made trap music feel inevitable before trap music existed. Their influence rippled through everyone from Rick Ross to A$AP Rocky, proving that intelligence and accessibility weren't mutually exclusive, and that you could rap about the game without glamorizing it or apologizing for it.
