City Girls

City Girls were an American hip-hop duo consisting of Yung Miami and JT, both of whom originate from Miami, Florida. The duo signed with Quality Control Music, an imprint of Motown and Capitol Records to release their debut mixtape, Period (2018).

City Girls arrived in 2018 as Quality Control's answer to female rap dominance, with JT and Yung Miami weaponizing Miami bass aesthetics and unfiltered swagger across *Period* and beyond. Drake's placement of them on "In My Feelings" functioned as a mainstream coronation, but their real power emerged through grinding—stacking features with QC labelmate Lil Baby, building solidarity with Cardi B as rap's new female guard, and turning "Act Up" into an inescapable cultural moment.
